JAMB Cut Off Mark for Accounting
Accounting is one of the most popular courses among commercial and social science students in Nigeria. It equips students with the knowledge and skills needed in financial reporting, auditing, taxation, budgeting, and business management. Graduates of Accounting can work in banks, accounting firms, government agencies, multinational companies, and even establish their own consulting businesses.
If you plan to study Accounting in any Nigerian university, you need to know the correct JAMB subject combination, O'Level requirements, Direct Entry requirements, the JAMB cut-off mark, and the universities that offer the course. This guide contains everything you need to know before applying for admission.
JAMB Cut-Off Mark for Accounting 2026/2027
The general JAMB cut-off mark for Accounting is 150. However, meeting this score does not automatically guarantee admission because each university sets its own minimum cut-off mark.
While some universities accept candidates with 150 to 160, many federal and highly competitive state universities usually require 180, 200, 220, or even higher. To improve your chances of securing admission, it is advisable to score 200 or above in your UTME and also perform well in your Post-UTME screening if your preferred institution conducts one.
JAMB Subject Combination for Accounting
To study Accounting in any accredited Nigerian university, you must register the following four UTME subjects:-
- English Language (Compulsory)
- Mathematics
- Economics
- Any other Social Science subject
The fourth subject can be Government, Commerce, Geography, or another approved Social Science subject, depending on your chosen university's admission requirements.
O'Level Requirements for Accounting
To be eligible for admission into Accounting, you must have at least five (5) credit passes in your WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB results. The required subjects include:
- English Language

For candidates presenting NABTEB, the additional relevant subjects may include:
- Principles of Accounts
- Commerce
- Office Practice
- Secretarial Duties
The required credits can be obtained in not more than two sittings, depending on your chosen institution.
Direct Entry Requirements for Accounting
Candidates seeking admission through Direct Entry are generally required to possess:
Accounting (Administration)
Two A-Level passes chosen from:-
- Economics
- Accounting
- Business Management
- Government
- Geography
Accounting (Social Science)
- Two A-Level passes, including Economics.
Applicants with acceptable ND, NCE, HND, IJMB, or JUPEB qualifications may also be considered by some universities, subject to each institution's admission policy.
